Child Care Case Study: Bookkeeping Outsourcing
Situation:
The business owner of a home day care center was referred to Bookkeeping Express by another day care center in her area. The owner was doing the books herself in a spreadsheet software package while managing children under the age of five. She was extremely disorganized and did not understand the concepts of accounting to be able to track assets she had acquired for her business.
Her location prohibited her from being able to easily drop off the data to Bookkeeping Express, and she was concerned that she would never be able to timely supply complete information to allow Bookkeeping Express to supply her with accurate and timely financial projections.
Solution:
Once Bookkeeping Express met with the owner and understood her concern about being able to supply information timely a system was set up where she could just put all of her information into a folder and have it picked up by FedEx. This alleviated her concern about having to go through her bills and determine what should be sent to Bookkeeping Express.
Once she began receiving her monthly financial reports, and had a better understanding of her revenues and expenses she was able to envision growing her business and moving it to a better location. She was also interested in attempting to go back in history so she could show a lender the growth her business has experienced.
While the economy has set back her plans to expand temporarily, the owner is excited about how she can now view her business, and the ability to explain her business model to bankers and insurance companies. She is certain once the economy rebounds she will be able to increase her enrollment of children and move the business to an area more convenient for working parents.
