Greg Jones, Great Falls resident and CEO of the McLean-based BookKeeping Express, has gone nationwide, and not just with franchises of his accounting business. In November, Jones became the "franchise expert" for "The Big Biz Show," a business talk radio show that airs on more than 150 AM stations across the country.

"It’s very lighthearted, very loose [and has] almost a comic sense to a certain degree," Jones said. "It’s certainly not ‘60 Minutes.’" Every other Wednesday, he spends 20 minutes or so chatting with the show’s hosts on the air. "We decide on topics, but we typically never stay on topic," he said.

When traditional revenue streams aren't producing as much income for your business as they once did, it's time to take a look at alternative that can provide a quick turn-around on revenue and won't exhaust your resources.

Franchisors can create new revenue streams for both their franchisees and themselves, as well as increase the attractiveness of the franchise opportunity by developing a private-labeling program.  Franchisors can do this with the current services they offer by simply repackaging it, making it transferrable for other business owners to use.

Bookkeeping Express just got the OK from the Federal Trade Commission to start selling franchises in almost every state, and its three local owners expect to have 400 franchises in five years.

That would make it a $50 million business.
